We are working with a new textbook since we finished our workbooks! Students are focusing on beginning reading skills, vocabulary development, basic writing, and verbal communication. Students are also working on projects with story elements about books we have read together.
ESL A:
We are working on a unit with our new textbooks about how people deal with natural forces (volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc). We are making many connections with science and social studies! Students have just finished reading and now will be writing personal narratives about a time they have experienced a natural disaster or a time they had a big problem.
Students are also working on book report presentations after finishing multiple books with literature circles.
ESL C:
We are finishing a unit about equality. Students read multiple excerpts about the Civil Rights Movement and now are beginning to write informational essays about how teenagers can make a difference for groups of people that still face inequality. We focused on word parts (prefixes, suffixes, roots) and reading strategies in this unit.
